White Fantasy is a collaboration between artist Béatrice Coron and myself. Coron created delicate renderings of the circus in four beautifully hand-cut panels and I created figures that mirror the archetypal stories of carnival from eastern Europe and named them accordingly: "Medvěd Na Koni Tříkolka" (Bear on Tricycle), "Ratolest Člověk" (Twig Man), "Lev" (Lion).
We had a great time putting this together and installation day was quite silly. I flew down from the Vermont Studio Center in the middle of an a residency to install the show. It was a whirlwind trip but the results were well worth it. A big thank you to Muriel for arranging the collaboration. The show will be up through February 26, 2012.
